Detox Experience: Day 9 – Coconut Milk

 Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing Holly Rigsby with Fit Yummy Mummy for an upcoming event we will be sharing with you at the beginning of January.  While talking with her and having heard from a number of fitness experts and nutritionists, each of them have shared the benefits of coconut milk.

So, I finally went out and bought a half gallon. There were three flavors and I went with plain, no sugar, no additives, and high in healthy fats.  You know what, it’s not that bad.

When I started my detoxing experience, I was only looking at ridding myself of the internal toxins.  As I’m now 9 days into it, I feel so good that I’m ready to expand my nutrition from where I’ve been for some time.  Change is GOOD!

With all that said, today was busy.  At one point, I was making my morning detox tonic while talking on the phone.  I was so consumed by the call that I’m not sure if I put both liquids in or the same one twice! As we approached dinner, I was playing indoor football with Alex that I completely forgot about my evening detox.  I had it with dinner.

Here’s the thing.  Even though I didn’t take these correctly today, I’m still moving forward. Hear me out while I rant real quick. Don’t stop your fitness program or your healthy eating because you stumble here and there!  I stumble a lot, the difference is that I get up again and again.

Overall today has been great! For the remainder of the Supreme Cleanse Internal Cleansing Program, I am going to update you on:

  • Daily workout and duration
  • Foods, meals and snacks that I have had during the day
  • What kind of beverages I drank and how much
  • Elimination patterns
  • Overall well-being

Each day I will be taking the Supreme Cleanse Internal Cleansing Program product 5 times per day.  Each of these are 20-30 minutes before either a meal or snack.  These consist of:

Breakfast Detox: 1 Tsp. Rejuve Powder  – No problems here
Snack #1 Detox: 30 drops Scudder’s Alternative & 30 drops Red Clover Supreme – Not sure what I had today.  I know I had something.
Lunch Detox: 60 drops Sweetish Bitters – Going down better these days.
Snack #2 Detox: 30 drops Scudder’s Alternative & 30 drops Red Clover Supreme
Dinner Detox: 60 drops Sweetish Bitters

Here’s the rundown for today:

Daily Workout

TRX Basic Training – 35 minutes
Indoor football, soccer, and kickball with Alex – 30 minutes

Today’s Menu

Breakfast:
Breakfast bagel sandwich

  • 1 organic eggs
  • handful of shredded Mexican cheese
  • organic pesto jack cheese
  • toasted sprouted wheat bagel

Snack #1:
None.  Completely missed this while interviewing Holly this morning.

Lunch:
4 oz chicken salad
2 Black Bean Burritos

  • 1 can organic black beans
  • 2 tortillas
  • 2 handfuls of Mexican cheese
  • salsa

Snack #2:
5 handfuls of cashews
1 kiwi

Dinner:
Bowl of Crockpot chili
Handful of Mexican cheese
1/2 avocado
3/4 zucchini & hummus
1 1/2 gluten free cornbread

Snack #3: (depending on how I’m feeling and how late I’m up)
Bowl of granola cereal with coconut milk

Beverages

150+ oz of H2O
Starbucks Grande Refresh hot tea
1 cup of coconut milk

Elimination Patterns

Two bowel movements like the last few days.  Urinating more than I ever have these last 9 days.

Overall Well-being

Another restful night of sleep on only 5 1/2 hours.  I can’t believe how easy it is to get up right now.  Believe me the mornings were tough for me before I started detoxing.  My alarm was set 20 minutes before I had to get up because I snoozed it 2-3 times.  Now I’m up and ready to go when my alarm goes off.  This is HUGE for me, and I’m sure the long-lasting benefits of detoxing my internal system is going to pay dividends for months to come.

  1. I love coconut milk. If you want a great smoothie recipe try 1-2 cups coconut milk (depends on what consistency you like), 1 giant handful of spinach, 1 cup strawberries (frozen is okay if they are too expensive fresh) and 1 banana – blueberries are good to add to it too. My 7 year old loves them and never would guess there is spinach in them. I’ve noticed the past week you do not eat very many green leafy veggies – so it’s a good way to get them in 🙂 Could also add them to your breakfast sandwich & burritos.

    Speaking of burritos and bagels, I noticed the gluten free corn bread for dinner? That kind of confuses me a little since you were eating gluten the rest of the day! For me giving up gluten and dairy made a HUGE difference in how much energy I had…no supplements necessary 🙂

    Anyways, it has been an interesting read as usual.

      You are right I haven’t had many green leafy veggies these past 9 days. A few months back I had some GI issues with spinach. Bloating was the main issue. Since then I haven’t picked it up. Probably wouldn’t hurt to pick some up again and see how my body reacts. Adding spinach to my breakfast sandwich or burrito is something I did before. I have had salad a few times. Typically I take a greens drink once a day, but during the detox I decided to lay off of it. I started taking this because of my issue mentioned above.

      The gluten free corn bread was for my wife. She is making the move over to a gluten free way of living. She made these and since there wasn’t regular ones I ate these. Really tasty! Not sure how far I’ll go with a gluten free, dairy free lifestyle. Biggest reason is when I’m cycling long distances it is hard to consume these products all the time.

      My way of thinking is that if I can eliminate 80% gluten and dairy from my lifestyle I would call that a success. Also, in support of my wife I will do what is necessary so that she feels better and has the energy she desires.

  2. I’m ordering this right now to follow in line and get a really good detox in during this month of December. I want to have a big boost in energy before my vacation time comes for 2 1/2 weeks at the end of the month.

    I’ve been doing good overall with getting in physical activity and eating well, but it still feels like I have a metaphorical spark plug not firing!

      My opinion is the combination of detoxing and making some adjustments to our nutrition has made this a worthwhile 2 weeks. Make sure you do get it done before your vacation as it does take coordination to make sure you are taking everything each day.
